About me
I am currently a senior at the University of Colorado Boulder, double-majoring in journalism and political science. I served as editor-in-chief of my university’s fully student-run newspaper, the CU Independent, from 2024-2025. During my term as EIC, I produced our first print newspaper since 2006, hosted debates between statewide political candidates and was responsible for increasing our weekly coverage fourfold. Before this, I served as a managing editor, news editor and news reporter. Retired from my editorial role, I am still passionate about student news and currently serve as the CUI's special investigations editor, overseeing all longform and investigative storytelling. In 2025, I was a Carnegie-Knight News21 fellow, where I investigated the scarcely-covered practice of medical deportations. I’ve interned at Rocky Mountain PBS and spent two years writing and copy-editing for the Coloradan magazine. My award-winning work has appeared in the Associated Press, the Philadelphia Inquirer, the Chicago Tribune, Boulder Reporting Lab and the Rocky Mountain Collegian, along with more than fifty other outlets from Jamaica to Bulgaria. My current primary interest is in health care reporting, and I’ve covered the impacts of Trump’s H.R. 1 on hospitals facing funding cuts in remote mountain communities, as well as undocumented patients and U.S. citizens on Medicaid.
